Being in the room and having Shodan appear from all sides was really cool but I didn't really listen to anything because I was ready to fight at any minute etc. I just hear Xerxes sounding ominous, then Polito shows up, then Shodan shows up and says I'm actually Polito who is actually dead, help me override Xerxes and that's all I really know. I can't sit and listen to a ton of dialogue in the middle of the game because I'm so tense while playing. Gotta admit though, not really following the story. Didn't think they'd top that, I fought an infant arachnid in hydroponics and was really underwhelmed, then an adult arachnid came in Operations and I thought nothing of it, then it started sounding weirdly human and was way too fast for comfort and turned out to be a bulletsponge. The protocol droids or whatever, the ones who just want to help and then blow you up, the cyborg midwife's screams were awful to just hear in the distance the first time. It's fantastic, and every new enemy (Except for the cyborg assassins who haven't been that bad) has freaked me out more and more. My friend informed me of the camera and I calmed down a bit, I moved up ahead looking for a powercore, beat up some hybrid by the first replicator next to the medbay, started looting and all of a sudden I hear "They see you" or some similar voiceline really loudly, another hybrid had snuck up behind me, seconds after that line I was struck. My friend gave me System Shock 2 as a gift because he thinks everybody should play it and he did so after I finished Bioshock which is one of his favorite games.Īlready, I love the game, it shouldn't be this good on a modern machine, I thought the Hybrids were absolutely horrifying the first time I saw them, and I didn't see the first camera in the medbay so I just thought "fuck, a timed event with only a wrench, this game's gonna be awful". I just got to the recreation deck, it feels like end game, but I've only played 6 hours and all my friends have around 14-17 hours so I'm guessing I'm halfway? I'm playing through System Shock 2 on my way to play Bioshock 2, but I have so many other games I want to play and I don't want to lose steam which I often do playing horror games.
